23. Day

Comox – Qualicum Beach – Parksville – Port Alberni

The first stop of our tour today was Qualicum Beach, it is a very small village. We walked around “downtown” and got some coffees for our junkies.

Later on we played Minigolf in Parksville, the park was really great! It has a lot of decorations and was really cute. Unfortunately I lost the game so I had to pay for an ice cream for the winner SUSI. :P

After a funny game we headed to Cathedral Cove this is in the Mac Millian Provincial Park. There were some trails through the woods, which lead to the largest tree in this forest. It too had some other big trees, was stunning.

As we wanted to stay in Stamp Falls Provincial Park for the night we drove to Port Alberni. We first visited this small city and the “suuper” lighthouse. :P

And then were looking for the campground, naturally we drove in the wrong direction and had to go back to the last sign which showed the direction to the Stamp Falls River.

After finding the park it turned out that there were no hook-ups so decided to find another spot to stay over.

On the way back to the city we got in a police control, but as Mario didn’t have his passport on him we had to pull out to look for it and show it to the lady.

Soon after we arrived at the RV Park and had some delicious dinner. =)

Then we enjoyed a movie with Popcorn =) We watched ‘Changeling’ which is a really good movie.

And for sure had a motto this day…

“I don’t know, I have never been here!”

24. Day

Port Alberni – Nanaimo – Tofino

This day we had a date in Nanaimo, that’s why we drove all the way back to Nanaimo. We parked our RV and walked around the pier and the old part of the city, which was really cute. After this walk we got hungry and enjoyed some European specialities in a small bakery. It’s really recommendable to go there! ;)

Since we had a rendezvous we went back to the car and drove to the ferry station where we warmly welcomed Stefan aka ‘Brüetsch’.

The final destination of this day was Tofino so we continued through the rain to get to this small, cute village.

We are staying at Bella Pacifica for 3 days; this camping is great it’s right next to the beach.

25. Day

Tofino

“So someone take her picture, so I don’t forget her, I wish I had a Polaroid, so I could remember!”

Waking up with raindrops falling on the roof was nice. But however it was not the right weather for our program today. Then we planned on doing whale watching and the others wanted to rent surfboards.

So we just drove to the village and wanted to visit the visitor’s office but we were 5 minutes early. The office should have opened at 10 o’clock but as we are in a hippie village they just take it easy. They don’t care about being on time or not. So the office opened at around 10.30 and we got our information and some postcards. =)

And finally it stopped to rain and so a few minutes later we booked our whale watching tour. Since there was time left to the start of the tour we rented some surfboards and wetsuits for the ones who want to try surfboarding.

So it was 12 o’clock and our tour was about to start, but first we got some suits to not get wet and then take our seats in this cute, little zodiac. Then we started…

We drove with 70km/h over weaves to an island where we saw some sea lions. After another ride we arrived at a bay where the whales we most likely to be seen. We had to wait a few minutes until we finally saw one. But we didn’t see much of it.

After a while we drove to another island and saw some sea otters. :P

On the way back we got to see a cow which lives wildly, this cow was on the beach to find some sea grass to eat.

Back on the camping “Brüetsch” went for a short bath in the sea. He has to be nuts :P The water is really cold and everyone only goes in with a wetsuit. :P

We wanted to barbecue some sausage but had a really fight with the fire until it burns. But after winning over the fire we enjoyed the delicious dinner and wonderful evening around the campfire! We listened to music and just sat around the fire. =)

And as we listened the whole day the music of ‘Shwayze’ the motto of the day has to be…

“I wish I had a Polaroid…!”

18. Day

Whistler – Langdale

Today was better weather than yesterday, it didn’t rain anymore. =)

So Mario decided to ride again and we were looking for the train wrecks. :P After driving 10 kilometres in the wrong direction we arrived at a stunning lake, took some pictures and turned and went back to Whistler.

We went for shopping and we saw that there was a cooking competition so we enjoyed watching this competition, was really interesting.

When we got back to the car, Susi realised that the light was still on and so we tried to star the engine but it didn’t start anymore. Luckily the RV had an emergency start button, so we could start it without problem. =)

Still looking for the trail wrecks we found the snowboard factory from the brand ‘Prior’! It was really interesting to see how they make the boards. All is handmade and they just need 6 work hours to finish a board.

After this really interesting experience we continued to look for this train wreck. We knew that we had to walk along the rail tracks for 10 minutes but as we were not used to walk on the tracks it was a bit strange, but anyways we did it. So we got on a trail and found these wrecks. It was strange to see that there are several train wagons just lying there and no one cared about them but bikers. :P

After this excursion we drove a long the sea-to-sky highway to Horseshoe bay. As we couldn’t find a RV park we decided to take the ferry to Langdale where we stayed for the night.

19. Day

Langdale – Lund – Powell River – Comox

Last night we decided that we are sleeping late this morning, so that the women of our family could be satisfied as the boys are rather morning people than something else :P

So our arrangement was to leave at 10 o’clock, but unfortunately we were a bit delayed. We had to drive 81 kilometres and had about 2 hours time, you might think that’s far enough but it was really curvy and there are a lot of 30km/h parts. So we got to the next ferry right on time. After another 30km we got to Powell River but as we had 4 hours time to the departure of the next ferry we drove to Lund, which is the last village on this highway.

Lund was really small, just a few houses and a harbour.

So we walked around Lund and enjoyed the breathtaking view over the ocean.

Later on we arrived at the gate for the ferry, we had to wait just a few minutes to the departure.

It was amazing to cross a small part of the ocean with the ferry. =) So we enjoyed the view and were entertained by some stupid children. :P

When we arrived at the other shore it was already 7 o’clock so we had to look for a camping, but it didn’t take us too long and we were at Seal Bay.

It’s a really nice campground.

This evening was almost the first evening that it rained.

20. Day

Comox – Port Hardy – Port Mc Neill

It was raining the whole night and so did it as we woke up. =(

This was why we decided that we would drive directly to Port Hardy and visit all the other villages on the way back.

When we got to Port Hardy it was just cloudy and didn’t rained so we went to the visitor’s office once more and were told that need at least two days to see everything in Port Hardy.

So we made our way to the first beach she recommended us. It was nice although it was really windy.

Later on we drove to Coal Harbour where we should have seen a water airport, the last whale hunting station and a lot of animals. But in fact we just saw a harbour and some birds that was all. It was beautiful but not really interesting.

So we drove on to another beach and this one was scenic, with all the mountains and the ocean was just amazing.

Then she told us to visit the First Nations part of Port Hardy and that there is a odd but stunning cemetery.

And she was right the cemetery was completely different from the one’s I know. It had big crosses and some Totem Poles, it was somehow frightening.

First Nation’s are kind of strange people, I guess there really nice and friendly, but the ones’ we met were just drunk or high… And another thing is, that there yards are really messy, no one cares about tidying up in the garden.

After having seen all the attractions of Port Hardy we drove back to Port Mc Neill, where we found a campsite for the night.

It was stunning! We got the site right next to the rocks and the ocean!

This evening we wanted to barbecue some sausages so we made a fire and put the sausages on the table. I was writing my last blog in the RV and the others were on the rocks enjoying the ocean when Susie suddenly opened the doors and asked us where we had put the sausages.

No one knew where they should be so we were looking around and found the package on the rocks and 1 sausage still in there and another one right next to the package. The crows stole our dinner!!! Hahaha

After a discussion about god and the world we enjoyed the sunset and this picturesque view.

21. Day

Port Mc Neill – Little Huson Caves – Port Mc Neill

As this day should be the only sunny day this week we took the chance and wanted to go hiking. Our destination should be Schoen Lake Provincial Park. On the way to this lake there were some caves that we wanted to visit too. But first we visited Telegraph Cove, which should be the best place for whale watching during summer. It’s a cute, little village and the view over the ocean and the other coast was once more just awesome.

Later we drove in direction Zaballos, on the way we saw a sign to the Hasun Caves but since we were looking for the Little Huson Caves we passed by. OF course the street was not really a street but a gravel path (which we’re actually not allowed to drive on). After about 30 minutes on this path we decided that we are on the wrong way so we turned and drove back. Because we wanted to see caves we then took the way to the Hasun caves, and what a surprise around 1 kilometre further we saw a sign for the Little Huson Caves…

So we parked our car and walked around 3 kilometres to this Provincial Park, and when we got there we had no idea where the caves should be. There were two ways and of course we took the wrong one.

That’s why we got to a lake, which was by the way really beautiful, and not to the caves. So we made our minds up and gave this other path a shot.

And it was the best thing to do, because we finally reached this caves and they were amazing! =)

When we got back to the car it was already 5 o’clock so we cancelled our appointment with Schoen Lake Provincial Park and drove back to the camping from the night before.

We tried to barbecue another time and this time it worked out! :P

22. Day

Port Mc Neill – Schoen Lake – Sayward – Comox

Another lovely morning was over after driving to Schoen Lake. We didn’t really went to Schoen Lake because the path was soooo narrow and had sooo many holes that we thought it’s not so healthy for our car to drive this way. There were just two options, either walked around 8 kilometres or continue on to Sayward.

Since we were not really sure if it starts to rain we took the second option.

Minutes later we arrived in Sayward, we didn’t see much from the village but the harbour was very nice. There was just one thing I didn’t understand, the have some old wrecks as wave breakers but I guess that’s not so economical with all this “rost”.

On the way to Campbell River we saw a cute little black bear. So we just turned around that we could take a picture but unfortunately he was shocked and ran away.

When we reached Campbell River we had to do our grocery shopping. We bought all the things we need but unfortunately forgot to buy water. So Mario and me went back to buy some bottles, we didn’t want to line up at the cashier so we thought we could do the self-checkout thing. We tried it, and we tried hard, but we had no clue how it worked so we grudgingly lined up.

This night we slept in Comox again so we went to the same campground as the first night on the island.

The owner of the camping told us that we should take a walk down to the Seal Bay. It was incredible down there! =D

After a delicious dinner I enjoyed our campfire and the sky full of stars. :P

15. Day

Hagensborg – Lac Le Hache

This day was more or less just driving back to Williams Lake and a little further. So we managed this shitty gravel way up the mountain and the just drove back. On the way back we saw a cemetery, but this cemetery looked really macabre. There were wooden fences around each grave and on there were a lot of old, crooked crosses.

So this was nearly all we experienced that day. For sure we saw beautiful landscapes and animals.

This evening we watched “Schmirinskis” – AWESOME! =)

And too we had a motto…

“über stock und stei!”

16. Day

Lac Le Hache – 100 Mile House – Green Lake – Clinton – HWY99 – Whistler

It was just amazing scenery that we were driving through today.

As everyday we got up early and got prepared to drive to Whistler, which was the next stop on our tour.

First stop was 100 Mile House where we went to the visitor’s office to ask what we should visit in this small village. This was when we met Silvia, she’s emigrated from Switzerland, and she was very nice and told us where we should go. She showed us the roads and places which are of the beaten track, so that we were able to see what not every tourist sees.

Soo we drove that road and suddenly saw a moose crossing the street. Everybody was really excited to have seen such an animal, it was the first time in wildlife for all of us. But the funny story about this experience was that when Susi told us that there is a moose on the street Mario was looking for a mouse (as moose sounds similar to Muus in Swiss-German).

Later we got to Green Lake, the name of this lake was not farfetched as the water of this lake was turquoise almost green. Soon after we passed another beautiful lake, in its midst a lonely island. So we just had to stop and take some pictures. =) We were thinking about how to get to this island when Claudio told us that it would be an easy thing, that you just could walk through the water as the island was just about 5 meters away from the shore. So we told him to show us how he can get to the island, we thought the water would be tooooo deep and cold for him to make it. And guess what, we were right :P

Thank Silvia we saw something like a Canyon, it was amazing! :P

Once on the highway 99 we stopped because it was another scenic landscape. We just crossed the rail tracks :P and we wanted to know if a train was coming soon so an “Indian” listened at the track, but it was silent so we took some pictures and continued our way to Whistler.

Arrived in Whistler, found a camping we headed downtown and looked for Pili. She was visiting us, so we went for pizza. =)

After this delicious meal we joined the Kokanee Party which took place because the Telus World Festival takes place from the 16. – 25. April.

17. Day

Whistler

My day was just great! :P

The snowboarding pro’s of our family hit the slopes but I visited the village, as it was the first time to be there for me. I know I should be a bit ashamed but I must admit it’s just a cute village, for me it seemed like being in ‘Europa Park’.

But soon it started to rain and I checked out the shops and Starbucks :P

Later on I enjoy a body wrap and a massage in a local spa centre! It was awesome. =)

In the afternoon I met my friends and we watched the Orage Masters together and then went back to the camping.

13. Day

Quesnel – Barkerville – anywhere in nowhere (Puntzilake)

Getting up wasn’t too hard this morning, as it is getting warmer from day to day! Today’s goal was to visit Barkerville and then drive in direction Bella Coola.

When we arrived in Barkerville it was very beautiful weather and full of snow. So we enjoyed this little historic village and took a lot of pictures. In summer time there would have been cowboys and cowgirls who would have shown you how they lived in their time.

Later we were driving in direction of Bella Coola, but as it was getting late we thought we would find a camping not so far away from Williams Lake away. So we drove to Alexis Creek and further but there wasn’t a camping that was open. After a few more kilometres we saw a sign pointing to Puntzilake and showing that there is a camping ground. So we took that way…. Ou damn this was not paved but gravel. The whole RV was like a shaker. We had to drive this path for 8 kilometers and when we finally go to the camping…. Guess what… it was closed. So we just parked in front of the camping and stayed there for the night.

This evening was really funny we played ‘Stadt Land Fluss’. I don’t know the word in English but it is a game where everyone has a sheet of paper and topics and then someone says the alphabet and the other person has to say stop and then the challenge is to find words for these topics as past as possible.

14. Day

Puntzilake – Bella Coola – Hagensborg

How slow do you have to drive that you need 30 minutes for 8 kilometres? :P

This is what we did because we didn’t want to break the RV! :P

We thought that’s it with none paved path but we were mistaken. Some kilometres later we found ourselves on a sand-gravel way which we had to take in order to get to Bella Coola, this was the only way. So we drove through along this way and reach the National Park Tweedsmuir! You should have seen that road, oh my god it was soooo narrow and steep – was a real adventures to get to the bottom of that mountain. But when we drove further it was sooooo scenic! It looked like in a cowboy movie the countryside was just stunning.

In Bella Coola we have been visiting the harbour and it was awesome. We knew that there was a ferry to get to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island, and as Mario and I were a little worried about the RV we thought about changing our route and take the ferry instead of driving this gravel way again. Therefore I asked the guy at the harbour if he had information about the schedule and he just told me that the ferry should run since the end of March but it didn’t come to Bella Coola so far. So he didn’t know if there would come a ferry or not but it should. So there was no other possibility than take our beloved gravel way back to Williams Lake.

Once more the people were really nice, oh I almost forget to tell you that all the people who saw us waved us and greeted friendly. =)

Later on we drove back to Hagensborg to find a place to stay for the night. We had to get fuel and asked the guys there for a camping, and they told us we should try the one right on the other side of the street.

We went there and asked the lady we met, she told us that the owners of the camping are in Norway right now and they just arrived yesterday to sit the house. They knew each other just one week and got best friends, so the owner trusted his new friends with his house and the camping ground. But anyways we could stay there for the night and it was great!

The weather was really beautiful and warm so we felt like little children on the first day in spring! =)

The campground was huge and it was right next to a river! :P The best thing was we had a fire place where we mad a campfire and cooked some chocolate-bananas! =)

9. Day

Camping – Lake Louise Mountain Resort – Camping

This morning it was damn cold, we were a little afraid that our tank was frozen but luckily it wasn’t.

So we ate breakfast and got ready to hit the slopes. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t really good, it was misty, almost foggy and really really cold, freeeezing. On the top of the mountain was it very windy and about minus 10 degrees.

So I took just a few runs and then went to the lodge to warm up and wait for my pro friends. :P

After snowboarding we had a great dinner and then watched the second half of the second part of “The Lord of the Rings”.

And as we were told that this night should be a big party in the village we walked to the Lake Louise Inn to visit the Explorers Lodge.

Guess what, we had to pay 2 dollars coverage and got a cross on our wrist made with a waterproofed pen, haha, and the party was awesome, noooot!

Everybody was tired from the coldness and snowboarding we left after a beer and took our way home to our lovely motor home.

And finally the motto of the day… =)

10. day

Lake Louise – Banff National Park – Jasper National Park – Jasper

Another freezing cold night was over, all our windows were frozen and so the water pipe and we guess our water tank too.

But anyways we started the day like every other, with a good breakfast. Just one thing was not like yesterday, the weather! It was just gorgeous!

That’s why we visited the famous Lake Louise!

Today was the day of the pictures! :P

The Rocky Mountains are just picturesque! It was amazing! The snowy mountains, beautiful clear blue lakes and the cute animals! Once we took a picture where the whole family was standing on the street and the camera was around 20 meters away from us on the middle line of the street! It was a fortune that there was not much traffic so nothing happened to us. :P

When we arrived in Jasper all of us were hungry, so we were looking for a place to eat when we suddenly saw a laundry room. Since a few days we were talking about washing our clothes soon because the snowboarding outfits should be washed before long. So we decided that we are going back to the motor home to get our clothes our notebooks, because there was an Internet coffee right in the laundry room. On the way back to the motor home we saw a pizzeria and just ate ‘lunch’.

After that we took all our stuff to get it washed, buuuut when we arrived at the laundry room we had to recognise that it closed 5 minutes before. =( So no clothes will be washed today.

That’s why we took our way to Wapiti, this is the camping ground for this Saturday night and it’s a really nice one. =)

We also got to know our neighbours and they should us what we should visit in BC.

We were thinking about shorten our route because we thought that we wouldn’t have enough time for visit everything we want to. But after talking with the neighbours we are ensured that we are going to have enough time to continue the trip like we supposed to do.

Later that night we were sitting around a campfire with our neighbours and had some drinks! It was a lot of fun! =)

11. Day

Jasper – Prince George – Fort St. James

We started early this morning because we thought we would drive some hundreds of kilometres.

While driving another hour through the National Park of Jasper we stopped at a viewing point to take some pictures. We saw that we had to walk a few minutes to get to the waterfalls. So Claudio and me tried to play deer and bears. :P

It was still a little chilly so we ran down the path when it suddenly happened. Claudio wanted to imitate a frightening bear so he ran really fast and slipped out on a piece of ice. So he hurt himself a little, but actually it had a good point, our children learnt now that it’s not a good idea to run in a National Park in April. So we built our motto, which was “Hop la Hop! Don’t play bears and deer in a National Park!”

We walked down the rest of the way carefully and slowly and finally got to a small waterfall. :P but it was really nice though.

Later we continued our way to Prince George. Our expectations weren’t really high because everybody told us that Prince George isn’t very special and it’s not worth it to stop there.

But since Mario broke our fire alarm, and we were once more looking for a washroom but found a home department store we gave Prince George a shot but actually it wasn’t worth it at all. It just stunk! :P

So we just did our grocery shopping there and ate something and went on to Fort St. James.

When we arrived in Fort St. James we were looking for a RV park, and we just found to which where closed. On the second one we thought we could ask if they are open because the winter was so mild. So we asked the lady in the office and she just told us that they are still closed and we would have to look for another one. That’s why we were standing in front of our motor home and finding a solution when her husband came and asked what we would need for the night. He told us that he could give us just energy, water and a sewer. That was far enough for us, but it meant that we have to inaugurate our washroom! :P hahaha

Thanks god that Canadian people are so friendly and helpful so we had a place to stay for the night! =)

On our side there was a fireplace so we came up with the idea to barbecue some sausages and make baked potatoes. So Mario and me drove to a near general store to buy some things. Unfortunately they didn’t have foil for the potatoes but as Canadians are so friendly they gave us they’re own roll of foil. :P

So we enjoyed delicious baked potatoes, sausages and chocolate bananas for desert.

Like almost every evening we watched another part of “Lord of the Rings” but this time with POPCORN! =)

12. Day

Fort St. James – Prince George – Quesnel

After leaving the campground we visited Fort St. James. We drove to the visitor’s centre of Parks Canada. In front of this was a jalopy where we for sure had to take pictures and play around. A few meters away was a big information sign where you could push a button and it told you about the Fort from around 150 years ago. That’s why we wanted to visit this fort then, but unfortunately the visitor’s centre looked closed so we wanted to try to walk around the house go get in anyway. But suddenly someone called us. It was a man from the staff of Park Canada. He asked us if we want to visit the museum and the houses from 19^th century. So he opened the exhibition for us, so we could learn some things about the history of Fort St. James.

Later on we were on the bay back to Prince George and as we were running out of clean clothes we were looking for a Laundromat.

So we spent a few hours there and continued later our way in direction south to Quesnel.

When we got there, played soccer and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Hehe as the guys wanted to drink a beer the recognised that they forgot the beer on the other camping ground. Haha =)

So we thought about driving to the liquor store to get some new ones, but the Mario came up with the idea that they people from the camping could have some beer in their store. So he went there to ask them and when he came back he told us that the beer is being delivered in about ten minutes. We all thought he was kidding but he wasn’t! So few minutes later a car arrived on our side and brought us beer. :P

This evening we watched the last part of “Lord of the Ring”.

6. Day

Golden – Kicking Horse – Invermere – Radium Hot Springs

As we woke up in the morning it was pooring, so we thought we couldn’t go to ride on Kicking Horse, what made Susi really sad. Suddenly the sky cleared up and we decided to give it a shot.

Thank God we went there, because it’s an amazing ski resort for people who are good in winter sports. There aren’t really sloops, which are prepared, there just some trails and you can drive wherever you feel like. For the pros in our family the best thing was the fresh powder as it had snowed during the night. Mario, Claudio and Susi made some amazing runs down some cliffs and steep powder hills. But I was a little bit lost, because I couldn’t find my way and the hills were tooo steep and powdery. But I guess I am getting better day-by-day. Maaaybeee :P

After buying stickers from Kicking Horse and T-Shirts, a sweater and sun glasses we drove down to Golden but not just our family, we were soooooo nice that we took two hitch hikers with us! :P So we dropped them off in Golden “Downtown” and continued our way to Invermere.

When we were there we walked through the village and found a butcher with European food…. =) We had to go in there and buy some Bratwurst and Swiss cheese. The best thing was that this butcher emigrated from Switzerland to Invermere.

After not having found a camping ground for the night we drove back to Radium Hot Spring because we were told that there is an open camping.

Minutes later we were on a really beautiful campground right next to a river! It was really nice! And so was the dinner this evening, we had all the Swiss food with “Gschwellti”. =) mmmmmmhhh…

To finish the day we watched “Lord of the Rings” in our comfortable living room. =P

7. Day

Radium Hot Springs – Panorama – Calgary

That day we got up very early… =) (like every day)

We just drove to Invermere where we ate a suuuper breakfast at ‘Huckleberry’s’.

Later on we tried to hit the slopes of Panorama but unfortunately the snow was rather shitty than crappy. It was really icy and most of it was already melt away. The 3 pros walked on the top of the mountains to get to a double black slop which was called ‘Never never land’, so they rode down that way and I took a blue slop (which is the red one in Switzerland) and tried to ride that one. We didn’t spend a lot of time snowboarding but continuing our way to Calgary, which is the most eastern point of our trip.

The way through the Kootenay National Park and the National Park of Banff was amazing. The landscape was just stunning!

After a few hours driving through these parks we finally arrived in Calgary but as everyday we had to look for a camping, but couldn’t find an open one.

So we decided to visit the Olympic Park first. We saw all the constructions which were made for the Winter Olympic Games in 1988. It was really impressive to see that all the constructions are still the same as 22 years ago.

Getting lost in Calgary, having no detailed map of downtown and finding the way to a parking space was the next challenge that we had to manage.

Last night we were staying on a parking that means that we had no energy and no water. That’s way we had to save energy and didn’t heat until we went to bed. Since we didn’t want to spend too much energy on lights we just watched the end of “Lord of the Rings”.

And for sure our motto of the day…

“Never never land or Lost in Calgary!”

8. Day

Calgary – Banff – Lake Louise

This morning we had the same problem as we had when we were in Nakusp.

Our washroom is still unused and we couldn’t go to a washroom the whole night :P So we just ate some toasts and went for looking for a Starbucks, where we could go to a washroom, have our daily amount of coffee or tea and check the internet where we should go snowboarding next, in Banff or Lake Louise. Finally we decided to visit downtown Calgary and then go to Banff and later on to Lake Louise, where we want to snowboard tomorrow.

Once walked through downtown, which is not really big, we stood in front of the tower of Calgary. So we took the change to see the whole city from above.

On the top of the tower is a lookout, and the floor of a little spot of it is made of glass. I was a bit afraid of stepping on the glass because it was 190 meters above street level.

On the way back to our motor home we visited ‘China Town’ but saw just a small part of it.

Could you imagine seeing hitch hickers on a highway? No? I couldn’t! But I know it better know. We saw a few people hijacking or crossing the highway, that’s way there is also a sign ‘Watch out for pedestrians on the highway’!!!

As we arrived in Banff there was a big snowstorm, it’s almost unbelievable that it was sunny and really warm in Calgary and so snowy and chilly in Banff.

So we walked through the village and visited every boarder shop which we saw. We were also a bit hungry and enjoyed a burger in a cute western pub.

It wouldn’t stop snowing so we were a bit afraid of not getting secure to Lake Louise, so decided that we will do our grocery shopping in Lake Louise and not in Banff. We drove through snow and it was really windy, that’s why Susi and me were scarred of getting involved in an accident.

60km later we arrived at the “shopping mall” in Lake Louise.

Luckily we didn’t have to look for a camping as we knew that there was one which is open all year round. Hehe =) but actually it is all packed of snow so we just have energy but at least that.

The children of our family went outdoors for a snowball war, I preferred to stay in the warm and cosy motor home and read a little bit more of Harry Potter.

After having dinner we watched the second part of the trilogy of “The Lord of the Rings”

4. Day

Kalenden – Oliver – Osoyoos – Christina Lake – Nelson – Sandon – Nakusp

This day should have started with the sunrise, but as it was cloudy we stood up for nothing. Okay not for nothing, we just ate breakfast and then started our car for another adventurous day.

First village to be visited was Oliver but actually it wasn’t very interesting, was pretty small and I guess it’s just interesting if you are interested in wine. So after a short walk we continued our trip in direction of Osoyoos.

Arrived in Osoyoos we were looking for the town centre, which was not so easy to find. :P Later we found the visitor info, where we took some prospects to inform us, what tourist attraction they have. This led us to visit a beautiful park. After that we drove to a viewpoint we you could see quite a lot of the Okanagan Valley. Just amazing.

On the highway to Castlegar we experienced how sudden weather changes can be in Canada. From snow to sun to very windy and snow again.

Since everybody was hungry and had to go to the washroom we decided to make a quick stop.

When we reached Christina Lake, we unfortunately couldn’t really find the shore or the village that we should have visited. That’s why we just stopped on a parking place in front of the lake and took some pictures of the lake. And because we had to go to the washroom again we continued our way to look for a toilet. You might ask yourself why we not just use our own washroom it’s still the same reason that I already told you – the washroom is still unused and now one wants to clean the shit tank. :P haha

After a stop in Castlegar for visiting Starbucks we drove to Nelson, another really small village.

Our next village to be visited should have been Sandon a ghost village. So we drove to Sandon, the road which leads there was rather a trail than a street.

This ghost village wasn’t very special… or maybe we just didn’t find it.

As it was close to the dusk we had to look for a camping.

The next camping should be in Nakusp so we made our way to this town. On this way we saw deer for the first time here in Canada. Later on there were some biiig deer on the road.

When we arrived in Nakusp we couldn’t find the camping ground, as it happen a few times until now. :P And it got soo late that we just took another one as we saw a sign for that camping ground along the street. We were a bit worried because in our brochure stands that this camping opens in May. But since were tired and on the sign was all year open we drove to this camping. What we didn’t know was that we had to drive a small, narrow street with no light for 12km, so it took us a while to get up there.

When we got to the end of the street we just saw the hot spring but nowhere a camping ground. That’s why the guys asked the girl from the hot spring where we could stay for the night and she told us that we could camp here but that they just have energy and no water. So we stayed there for the night, it was a bit creepy but the stars on the sky were really beautiful.

So after a exhausting but amazing day, in which we saw a lot of different lakes and mountains we were glad to have something to fill our belly and ate some pastas.

5. Day

Nakusp – Revelstoke – Golden

Since our washroom is STILL unused and nobody wants to make the first step we have decided that we would get up early this morning and the first thing to do would be finding a coffee where we could go to the toilet.

So we left a 7:30 and looked for a coffee in Nakusp.

We continued our journey to Revelstoke and Golden, after 50km we had to take a ferry but it was really nice, as the scenery was amazing once more.

After a short ride we arrived in Revelstoke where we got some new fuel and took some pictures. When we saw the restaurant Emo’s we got hungry and went for lunch.

Just 1.5 hour later we arrived in Golden and searched once more for a camping :P Luckily we found one and were the first guests of the season! =) wuuuuhu!

On the other side of the river is a railway track and I have seen the longest train ever, it was more than 3.5km long!!!

After a short football game Susi and Mario cooked a very delicious dinner which we ate outdoors as it was such nice weather.

Later on we made a campfire, we got firewood for free as a present as we were the first guests.

To finish the day we watched two episodes of “Fascht e Familie”. =)

I heard the best expression ever… haha

2. Day

Kamloops – Vernon – Kelowna

Today we wanted to wake up at 8 o’clock….

At this time Claudio was already awake and ready for breakfast, but Susi and me didn’t want to get because it was very cold and we had to go to the washroom urgently. But our problem was, our washroom was still unused and we didn’t know the code for the washrooms of the RV Park.

So we were waiting in our bed until Claudio went to the office to pay our stay and ask for the code of the washrooms.

After a delicious breakfast we tried to solve our problems, which we had with the motor home. But we couldn’t find all the answer in our handbook, that’s why we decided to ask the lovely lady from the office for help. As Mario and Susi were waiting outside of the motor home our “neighbour” came for asking if he could help us with something because they were walking around the motor home and he thought that we would have problems.

This led us to get the motto “Get the knowledge” for today.

Problems were solved so we continued our journey and visited the city centre of Kamloops. Susi is addicted to coffee so she needs her daily amount of coffee otherwise she gets angry and moody :P So our first mission was to find a Starbucks but this mission stay uncompleted as we couldn’t find anything but a Tim Horton’s.

After visiting Kamloops and its Thompson River we took our motor home and headed to Vernon.

In Vernon we parked on a big parking and suddenly Susi saw a Starbucks, which for sure was mandatory for a visit. So we asked the barista for tips where to go. We walked around and finally found “downtown Vernon”. :P

This town is full of wall paintings that are really nice! All of them were about war and this little town.

After a coffee and short walk through Vernon we drove to Kelowna, which is another Indian name and means “Grizzlybär”.

We were looking for one special camping place but unfortunately couldn’t find because we thought that this camping is in Kelowna itself. So when we drove through Kelowna but were lost as the street of the camping ground was not on our map. After crossing the bridge, which leads out of Kelowna, we stopped and took some pictures. :p

But our goal was to find a camping before dusk so that we can install everything properly, so we had to hurry up because it was already 6 o’clock, that’s why we used our iphone to find the camping. So we found out that we drove 23 kilometres to far and the camping is 5km north from Kelowna International Airport. On the way back we needed to go to Wal-Mart to buy another blanket.

Finally we arrived at the camping and were surprised that it was a huge 5 star camping ground with hot tub (but without water), indoor swimming pool, outdoor pool and much more. As we are more or less in the wild Wild West I saw a cute little bunny lolloping around. =)

This evening we cooked in the motor home for the first time, and as it was Good Friday we didn’t cook meat, but eat delicious pasta with tomato sauce and salad.

Later on, after a walk to the shore from the lake that is at de camping site, we tried to watch “ faschte Familie” but the neighbours Internet connection wasn’t really good, so that we gave up and read instead.

3. Day

Kelowna – Big White – Kelowna – Okanagan Falls - Kalenden

The 3. Day of our trip was dedicated for snowboarding.

It took us one hour to get to Big White from Kelowna, this was the reason to get up early. We ate breakfast a 7:30 and then just left the site in direction Big White.

Soon we were hitting the slopes and enjoying the snow and the more or less beautiful weather. I rode the green slopes and my “homies” took the snowboard cross run. They made a contest, who’s the fastest and Susi won.

“go Susi go”. Claudio was a little down because he lost, but I think he’ll get well soon.

A few minutes later we were to be found in ‘Snow Ghost’ where we ate really good chicken stripes. :P

Our last run was crazy… We had to take the black slope and I was totally lost there, because I am still a beginner in snowboarding.

So we went back to Kelowna to visit downtown and the beach. :P

It was really nice, the sun, the lake and the beach made you feel soooo good.

After a short football game and some funny pictures we continued our trip direction south.

The countryside on this way was sooooooo picturesque. We drove along the Okanagan Lake and it was amazing. Just stunning!

Like yesterday, we were looking for one special camping ground in Okanagan Falls, buuuut unfortunately this camping was still closed. But it was sooooo amazing there that we took some pictures.

So we drove back to Kalenden where we found a small camping ground with a breathtaking view.

Susi and Mario went for taking a shower and Claudio and me stayed in the motor home as Susi suddenly came back and told us that she forgot her shower gel and shampoos in Kelowna. J haha

Later we enjoyed our dinner, which was curry rise and salad. :D

As the snowboards have to get ready for the next mountains, Susi and Mario gave their babies a spa program and waxed it.

Oh by the way I almost forgot to tell our motto of the day.

1. Day

Vancouver – Hope – Kamloops

We started our trip on April fools day =)

In the morning, we took the sky train to pick up the RV that is our home for the next 30 days. After a „perfect“ instruction we started the motor and our journey begun

First we had to go back to our apartments to get our luggage. The motor home was sooooo packed after putting in all our suitcases and boards that there was nooooo way to reach the washroom. So we decided that the slogan of the day was to clean up the motor home. :-)

Unfortunately we got in traffic jam and our way to Hope, which was the first stop of our trip, went on really slowly.

As we were really hungry we had lunch in Triple O’s. =) After eating delicious burgers, we continued our way to Hope and experienced hail for the first time in Canada.

An hour later we arrived in Hope which is a very small village but soooo cute.

As we had parked our motor home a man came to ask us where we are coming from. After buying our breakfast for tomorrow we walked around the village and looked for a washroom. I guess I have to say that no one wants to go to the washroom in our motor home because the first one, who uses it, has to clean the shit tank.

Later on our way from Hope to Kamloops, as we were driving I said that the last time I was there everything was snow-covered because today it was green, we got in huuuuuge snowstorm. After a while the weather conditions changed from one minute to the other and the snow was gone.

After driving a few hours in the dark we finally got to see the lights of the city Kamloops.

Kamloops was named by the Shuswap-Indians and this means „Zusammenfluss“.

15km later we reached a place for staying over that night.

Then we had to manage the biggest challenges of the day.

- How should we organise our luggage so that we have enough space for ourselves?

- And how does the motor home work?

Later our motor home looked like a home. =)

But we were tooooo tired to figure out how everything works in this RV, so we went to bed. =)

as I told you, I was working for the paralympics :P
this has been a great and unforgettable experience. in the thunderbird arena they have had some stands where you could try how it is to do sports with a handicap.
so we tried how to play ice sledge hockey (but on the floor), and we gave our best in wheelchair curling. =) it was really interesting to feel how exhausting these sports are. :P

and as we were in the stadium, we had the chance to sneak in and watch the games. :P
it always was a biiiiig party :D

our roommate nicolas left more than a week ago, that's why ha were having a biiiig party in our apartment. the theme for that party was 'remember the 90's' =)
soo we went to value village which is a second hand store for buying clothes from the 90's. =)
the party was incredible =) these are a few numbers of our party:
ca. 50 people
ca. 150 jello shots
9 hours of paaaaarty =)
ca. 50 balloons
reams of beers and other kinds of alcohol :P
aaaand a few hang overs :P

on sunday we went to the cinema =)
this time we watched 'she is out of my league' this movie is soooo funny =) really entertaining =)

one day later I was invited at my homestay for a delicious dinner =) it was soooooo nice to have seen them again =) they're sooo lovely. when i am there, it feels almost like home =)

ooon tuesday i went to the cinema again =) and we watched 'bounty hunter' which is a goood movie but not as funny as the other one was :P

thursday was a sad day, because i had to say good bye to one of my best friends here in van. fernando left and went back to spain.

huuuu friday hahahahaha =) that was a night.
but stop, i have to beginn the day in the morning :D
my neighbours and dear friends, mario and claudio, had their graduation :P sooo i got up early (at 10 or something like that) :P and went to school because i didn't want to miss their great speech.
after that we went to subway for lunch =)
and because I am a really good student I did my homework before school :P
so after school i met Vriiini =) and we bought spaghetti for dinner and went together with Salome to the liquor store :P there we bought some (haha!) liquor =)
so we ate spaghetti and had a great evening =)

after sleeping the whole day, my roomies and me went to Hell's Kitchen for having dinner with Alanna, the birthday child =)
later on we joined the farewell party from our neighbours :P but as I was still tired from the night before we didn't stay long :P

actually my roomies and me were invited for breakfast at our neighbours apartment (miiiit zopf :P ) buuuut they were soooo hung over that they slept tooo long and we went to north vancouver and had our brunch there :P

hehehe =) guess what I did yesterday evening? =)
i went to cinemaa again :P this time for the movie 'the hot tub time machine'!
such a hilarious mooovie :P you HAVE to watch it!

today is more or less my packing and cleaning day. because i am leaving tomorrow for my roadtrip through BC! =)
we are going to be on the road for one month =) --> snowboarding, surfing, playing cowboys :P
soooo this means i won't be online very often and it could be that i am unavailable on the phone. :P
so just keep reading my blog, because this is going to be the only thing i will update :P

on Sunday, feburary 28th, was my first day at work for the olympics.
i was lucky and could work at the closing ceremony. it was amazing.
the show was reaaaally good. =)
although i had to work 10 hours it was an unforgettable experience :D

the following days were packed with work at the warehouse and school.

i am taking private lessons now and it's soooooo good! my teacher is hillarious.
during these lessons i've been learning a lot =) it's a good preparation for possible further exams.

we went to the cinema last week. we watched 'Alice in Wonderland', which is a really good movie. there is a lot to laugh about :D

the rest of the week was about the same as the week before, just work and school.

do you know jello shots? =)
it's really funny to get drunk with jello shots.
jello shots are like pudding but made with alcohol.
so you can get drunk without drinking anything :P
but actually it takes a while to get wasted.

last friday was the opening ceremony of the paralympics 2010.
it was so thrilling to be at this ceremony. these sportlers were sooo impressive.

ou ou ou it's been ages since i wrote my last blog.... i am sorry!
but lately i was a bit stressed and i wasn't really in the mood to write a blog.

at the beginning of this month i went to granville island for my first time :) and it was sooo nice, it felt like entering another world.
it's like leaving the big city life of vancouver and step into a calm atmosphere of a little fishing village :) and to top it all 'the house of switzerland' is on that island.
anja and me went to the kids market :D and of course we had a lot of fun =)
after playing around we got hungry so we went to the market.
this market is very famous and huuuuuge =)
on the way home we visited granville street and an light exhibition :D
we were just walking around and taking pictures when a man came to us and wanted to make an interview for 'i-don't-know-what'! haha :D

on february 5th was the grand opening of the house of switzerland! it was really crowded :D but guess who we met? GLOBI :D
globi was surrounded by children and then susanne and me went to him and ask for a picture! haha :D we were just the BIG children :P

a day later my darling visited my in vancouver =)
cé flew with some swiss athletes which i saw at the airport =) i stood right next to simon ammann :P

cécile and I went to the vancouver aquarium which was pretty amazing. we saw soooo many different animals :P
haha and when we went into the tropic hall we were wonderig why our camera was so flimed over :P haha
then there was an aquarium white a bowle on the bottom so that you can put your head in it and it looks like your head is in the water. :P cé was so brave and put her head into this thing and when i wanted to take a picture a fish jumped to the glas and scared cé so that i couldn't help laughing. :D
later we went to the 4D cinema. it was amazing, even better than that in Europa-Park. :D
it was really surprising and it has had soooo many special effects :P

on friday february 12th we went to the streets to see the torch :D and finally we saw it :P it was stuning how many people were there just to see the torch for a few seconds.
this day we watched the opening ceremony at the house of switzerland :D
the opening ceremony was just marvelous! sooooo amazing! :D
but when i heard about the death from this gregorian guy it made my really sad.
after the ceremony we wanted to take pictures of the cauldron, but unfortunately there were soooo many people and they had a stupid fence around this area.

a few days later my darling and i went to lynn cannoy. this is a suspension bridge. and there where some waterfalls and a really beautiful lake too.
it was really relaxing and sooooo nice. :D just as i imagined canada would be.

when cé left to go back to switzerland i was really depressend and i got really homesick.

a day later mario and i went to bowen island.
it's such a beautiful island and sooooo cute :D this island has a population of about 3500. :D
just look at the pictures. they will tell you more than everything i could write. =D

since cé left, i can't wait to go home to see you guys again.
that's why i changed my plans.
i will go to travel for just one month during april and i will come back with my parents in the middle of may.
so now we are planning our roadtrip through BC! but we also want to go to white horse in yukon and alaska. so that we might get the chance to see the nothern lights.

Hehe ja bin es fliessigs...

as i told you in my last blog, i went to the bank for opening a bank account. so on monday i had my appointment with Tissany and she advised me about the different accounts they have.
first thing you have to learn about canadian way of life, you have to pay for everything you want (and sometimes even for the thing you can't do anything about it; for example an incoming phone call)
the transactions on you bank account are limited... for example i can do 25 transactions and for each more than that i have to pay.
then instead of sending you a personal bank card you just get an impersonal one... they take on out of their shelves and that's it. further for you online banking you just need the number of your bank card and a password... very secure... :P haha

if you want to rent an apartment in canada you don't have to make a contract.
when we visited our apartment, the owner told us, if you want to rent it, you can do that, you were the first ones which wrote me, so if you want, it's yours. so no contract - no signature - noooothing. but we insisted on making a contract, just in case...
because we were afraid of getting kicked out because of the olympics. several friends, without contract, were kicked out so that the owners can rent the apartment for more to make good money.

canadian don't like contract, so you neither have one at work. after my interview at prospect point my boss said, oh you are employed, you will earn 9.50.- / hour and start on Saturday... that was it. no notice for quitting and so... by the way the normal wage here is between 8-12 .- sooo not really much.

oh and if you use public transport, please line-up... canadians line-up for everything... waiting for a bus, get into a club, waiting for a table in a restaurant, waiting to get into a store on boxing day... i guess it's common to wait one or two hours just to get into a club... why not...

and if not today, then tomorroaw.... maaaybe...
hunting for a job is really hard in canada.
sometimes you can just write e-mails because there is no phone number or name of the company... so if you write an e-mail you can't do anything else than wait...
maybe they will write you, maybe not... and most times you won't hear anything...

every time you enter a shop you will be warm welcomed and asked how it is going... =)
most of the people here are very friendly =)

friday before a week we were lucky to welcome some guests from chile =) Arturo and Diego =)
the same evening we had a party which was for once more hilarious =) sooooo great =)
my friends are just awesome!

on the weekend i had to work... and it was okay...

on monday i went to school as usual. but i changed my planes.
i will finish school this week and then i will work and go back to school in april or march for private lessons. so that i can get prepared for the CPE test.

by the way by the end of this week or beginning of the next we will get our results from the CAE test.

monday evening i met andre =) he brought me a gift from my lovely friends =)
they sent me a looooot of chocolate, my favourite toothpaste and aromat =)
you are soooooo great! i love you all! and i really miss you!

ooooh on tuesday i went to ikea with mario to buy a bookcase for our den =)
when i was walking through ikea i felt like home =) it was greeeat!

ooooh i have some bad news... =( there is NOOOOO snow in vancouver... can you believe that? the mountains around vancouver are closed... and they are trying to collect all the snow from cypress to prepare the runs for the olympics....

on wednesday we took a yoga class with our class :P and honestly it was a bit exhausting :P
and that evening it was the last day in vancouver for diego and arturo so we went to cambie to enjoy the last evening. guys you are great! ;)

on thursday i just went to school and after that i slept the whole afternoon because i was soooooo tired and feeling blah, because since the january 3rd i haven't had one day off. so i am really looking forward to monday in a week when i will sleep all day long. =)

on friday i got really depressed, when i went to the bank and just said these few words : hi i would like to open a bank account! the man behind the desk asked me if i was from germany... my accent must be soooooooo bad... =( but actually that man lived in switzerland for a few months...
in the evening i watched "youth in revolt" in the cinema =) susanne and me really enjoyed that movie.

yesterday i was working again =)
so did i today =)

You see, but you do not observe. The distinction is clear.

On January, 5th Fernando and me went to the cinema to watch Sherlock Holmes. Although it was really hard to understand everything they said, especially the chemical reactions, the movie was really good.
There were some gripping scenes and blowing special effects. =)

A day later I had my job interview at Prospect Point.
I applied for a position as a kitchen helper... hahaha...
Luckily everything went good and I am finally employed =)
On my way home from the Interview, I must be mentioned that this restaurant is in Stanley Park near the Lions Gate Bridge, I enjoyed the beauty of this park.
An hour later we were on our ways to Grouse Mountain, where I continued to learn snowboarding. It was hilarious. =)
My aim was to be able to get off the chairlift by the end of the day. Unfortunately i didn't reach my goal. =(
on the last run i fell really hard and I almost couldn't walk anymore not to mention sit. =)
I've already posted the link of my great video of how I got off the chairlift =)

on thursday I just went to school. that day i didn't feel very good because of my pain all over my body...
so i went to bed in the afternoon and slept the whole day :P

'hot dog eating contest'
Tamwood's friday activity was the hot dog eating contest =) who can eat the most hot dogs in 10minutes?
i must say the first one was really good but after 3 more it tasted sooo bad... so i ate 4.5 hot dogs in 10min.
but that was nothing in comparence with the boys. one mexican guy scoffed 11 hot dogs.
you might think that i hadn't eaten more that day, but that's completely wrong.... =)

that evening we wachted Scrubs, which is my new addiction =)

and then i was time to face the real life, it was saturday and it was my first day of work in Canada. =)
the people at Prospect Point are really nice. they are great =)
the work i have to do is okay... but anyway it's fun to work there.

i had to work the whole weekend. but whenever i work there i can eat their meals, which are soooo delicious =)

last monday i was playing volleyball with my co-worker from prospect point =)
i was sooooo much fun, then i recognised that i miss it really much.
from now on we will play volleyball every monday =) wuuuuuhu

the day before yesterday all the renters of apt.2301, 602 citadel parade, went to cinema together, which was nearly a 'once in a lifetime exprience' =) because it's really seldom that everyone is at home as all of us have to work.
we watched the amazing movie 'leap year'. it was an absolutely romantic film =) but soooooo good =)

yesterday evening was terrific =)
our neighbours and all of us went to cambie for a drink =)
when we got there it was already sooo crowded that we had the pleasure to share a table
with two awesome canadian guys.
we were having a great time and then it happen.
one of these canadians peed into the pitcher right at the table. and when they left they just told us not to drink this 'water'.... haha soooooo gross.

wow the holidays were great =)

on christmas eve had an international christmas :P
we organised a buffet in our apartment and everyone who joined our party brought specialities from their own country. so we have a huge variety of different kind of foods. it was great =)
and of course there was a big party in our apartment.... (as always...)

as the amercian tradition we unwrapped our presents on christmas day... on the 25th in the morning there were a few gifts beyond the "christmas tree".
later that day i was invited to have dinner with my ex host family.
it was marvelous.... =) we started to eat at 3pm and ate until 11pm =) but it was sooo delicious. and the relatives are soooo nice.
i felt (almost) like home =)

and then... the biiig biig day... haha
december 26th.... booxing day.
okay it wasn't that special, i thought i would be like hell, like everyone would run around and fight for clothes and shoes ( like in the movies)...
the stores were crowded and in front of brand stores there were huge line-up's, but the prices weren't that good actually...
just a some items were reduced... so we didn't spend as much money as we expected.

on sunday we went to stanley park with our neighbours (mario and claudio) and our Swiss friends, Michaela and Urs.
we hired city cruisers... funny bicycles... :P
and our aim was to find raccoons to feed them with chips.
so that wasn't a really hard task. if you found one, the whole family came to you. and they were anything but shy... once they touched marios camera... haha :P

for the first time of my life i had to go to school between christmas and new years...
it was strange... but that's why the time flew...

so new years eve was knocking on the door.
we had a Swiss party =) there were 6 Swiss people, Andrea, Fabian, Mario, Claudio, Thomas and me, and there was Katie =) our German friend.
we had a mouthwatering raclette for dinner =) it was yummy =)
after this excellent meal we played some games (6nimmt oder so) and drunk a bit of alcohol. and listened to the agahte bauer songs... =) (wenn au mal wötsch lose, gan uf youtube und sueche agathe bauer geschichte, isch dr hammr)
we had a lot of fun... it was a unforgettable evening... =) (some know more from the night and some less... :P )
even some people did sports that night... they played tonsil hockey... =) haha

during the first day of the year we didn't do anything exhausting, we just hung around and talked about our amazing times here in canada.
to finish that lazy day we went to the cinema to watch "the chipmunks" they are great. i can recommend that movie =)

yesterday was Andrea's and Fabian's last day in Vancouver. so we went out for dinner =)
ah by the way i got a snowboard from Susanne, another Swiss friend, she bought a new one and gave me her old one. so i just had to buy the bindings, because Andrea gave me her snowboard boots since she didn't had enough space in her suitcase to take them back to Switzerland.
back to the evening. so after our dinner in White Spot we went back to our apartment.
and in front of the other Spectrum Tower were around 3 ambulances, 2 firefighter cars and around 4 or 5 police cars. some men sat on the flower with handcuffs.
unfortunately i don't know what happen, but after 20 minutes all the police cars, ambulances and fire fighers drove away... :P

today i went snowboarding on Grouse Mountain. =)
the view was breath-taking. we saw whole vancouver, parts of vancouver island and even some mountains from the united states. =)
since i am still not a profi snowboarder i fell down many times and now everything hurts :P

soooo it's midnight i have to learn for our test tomorrow and go to bed :P
ou, i forgot something important... on wednesday I will have my first job interview... =)

last tuesday we were on a few job fairs, but as always we didn't hear anything until now...
it's getting a little bit depressing. but we won't give up... tomorrow we are going on tour again... one day we must be lucky...

on wednesday i was at school... and in the afternoon we went to stanely park to see the "beautiful" christmas lights.
unfortunately i forget my camera but i was typically amercian like always. =)

on thursday after school we booked our snowboard lessons for the rockies =) and i had to pack all my things because we left on friday.

friday morning at 7 o'clock we left for a awesome rocky mountains tour.
it was great. our first stop was in a village named "hope"... in this village they filmed the movie rambo... it's a cute little village. it was exactely what i expected from a canadian village in the country side. soooo beautiful =)
after a few more hours driving we arrived in kamloops where we ate lunch.
then we drove through the canadian desert and yoho national park.
in the evening we went snow tubing. it was sooo funny =)
the tubes were sooo fast =)
after an hour fun we checked-in in our first hotel in golden.

on saturday we had to stand up early because we drove to lake louise.
lake louise is sooo beautiful... amaaaazing...
some of us skated on the lake and the others walked around the frozen lake.
i walked through the snow and on the ice =)
we made "schneeball schlacht" against the spanish boys. it was soooo much fun!
later we continued our journey to banff. =)
in banff we took the condola to go to the top of the mountain. it was a breathtaking view.
and the weather was sooooo nice. the sun was shining =) and i got my first sunburn in Canada.
the gondola was made in Switzerland =) wuuuhu... but it was soooo funny. the had to abut on the gonodola that it moved. haha =)
in the evening we went out, to the only night club in banff =)
after some hours dancing we had to go home because the disco closed at 2 o'clock.
tamara, natalia, pili and I waited on the street for a taxi.
then a white car with blue and red stripes was about to drive past, so tamara an me stand on the street that it stops so that we can get in.
so we called the others that a taxi is here and we wanted to go to the car. buuuut suddenly the car drove away, so i thought it was an idiot of a taxi driver.
we were claming and grumbling... but then tamara recognised that it wasn't a taxi but a police car... hahahaha
when we arrived at the hotel we were soooo tired that we wanted to go to bed imediately. but the door of our room was closed.... but why that...
hehe.... sometimes boys and girls are going come together... :P
so we waited a couple of minutes in the lobby and when we came back we could go to bed, fortunately =)

the next day our trip was leading us to the most beautiful village i've ever seen, to Panorama Mountain Village.
It's a cute little, little village. In the rental shop, the man who rented me the snowboard things was a Swiss guy =) what a coincidence. =)
so we made our way to the mountain to try us on the snowboard. it was my first time.
but it was great. i really like to snowboard although it was very exhausting.
after this hard afternoon we unwound in the local hot spring. it was awesome.
we were supposed to have a bonfire and delicious marshmallows =) but the hotel forgot to make a fire. so we went back to the hotel and drunk a little bit of alcohol :P

and on monday we drove back to vancouver! it was a really, really great experience.
i love the rocky mountains =) soooo awesome.

today katie, marielle and me went to the botanic garden. hehe unfortunaltey there were not many flowers. koooooomisch =) but it was amusing. =)

last wednesday we had had our big exam...
i think it was okay... i don't feel like it was very bad but also not very good...
so i have to wait to the end of january to receive my results :P

after the exam we went to the old spaghetti factory with our class. together for the last time.. =(
certantily we went out that evening but everyone was so exhausted from the exams that we went home early.

on thursday was my first day in general english classes :P
it is soooooo different from the CAE classes. but we can learn a lot :P
in the evening i went with my host family for a walk to see the "beautiful" christmas lights on the different houses in our neighbourhood.
(i will upload a video, if it works :P )

on friday we had our big big big party =)
it was great and our apartment was veeeery crowded :P i think it was the greatest party ever in vancouver =)
it was loads of fun =)

the day after we went to the airport, again =(
our philipp left, to go back to beautiful switzerland.
i hate good byes...

later that day another hard good bye...

i had my last dinner with my lovely host family =)

it was soooo good =) marta cooked potatos, peas and carottes for me and a big steak. =)

but i can always go back to my family and they said that i will be always welcomed with open arms.

yesterday thomas and i went shopping in metrotown :P

we needed to buy clothes for the cold cold rocky mountains :P

wuuuhu i can't wait to go to the rockies. today i heard that we will be around 30 students from tamwood. i will be sooooo much fun and sooo cold :P

a swiss friend of mine is in the rockies now and she just wrote me, that they have a lot lot of snow and around -25 degrees :P

by the way, we still couldn't find a job =(

but tomorrow we are going to go to a few other job fairs... maybe we will be lucky this time.

this week i wasn't lazy at all...

on last tuesday we had a speaking exam with our school manager =)
my roomy natalia was my speaking partner and we did very well.
we also decorated the christmas tree unfortunately our teacher couldn't find popcorn without butter. so we had to decorate the tree without popcorns. =(

then on wednesday was our big day. the real speaking exam was on the program.
we had to wait in a class room until our names were called and then we could go an show off with our speaking knowledge =)
fortunately i was in the first group. and what a coincidence, natalia was my speaking partner =) we had a lot of fun during the speaking =)
that evening we wanted to go to ceilis... but like always the line up was sooooo long that we didn't go.
so we stayed at home and had our own home party =)

on thursday we only were 5 students at school =)
so we chilled out more or less the whole day :P
in the last lesson we went to Blenz coffee to enjoy a great caramel latte =)

a day later on friday, was our graduation =)
which was great =) but also sad.
i am not leaving tamwood but i will miss my class so much.
my classmates were the best which you could have wished. (ken plan öb de satz richtig isch :P )
after school, pili and me went to grouse mountain with some other students =)
it was sooooooo coooold up there =) even though it was great. for the first time in canada i have seen snow =) that made me so happy, because i really miss the snow and i was told that we won't have any snow here downtown =(
so we rented skates and went ice skating on the frozen pond =)
as when our toe's were frozen we changed our skates with our boots and walked to the beaver tail stand =) where we enjoyed a hot cider and a beaver tails. :P
soorry i can't explain what it was like, but it was really delicious. yammy yammy =)
after a few hours we took the gondola back to the valley :P
it seemed that we were lucky because the bus was waiting there and was supposed to leave in a few seconds, but unfortunately pili and me hadn't had enough coins to pay the ticket and they don't accept bills. so we had to go to starbucks to break a bill...
but the bus driver was sooooo rude and drove away. so we had to wait an hour only because we didn't had 2.50 in coins right then.

the whole week we have had beautiful weather with sunshine everyday.
soooo we took advantage of this weather and went to capilano on saturday.
in capilano is the suspension bridge and a little rain forrest =)
it was amazing. =) have a look at my pictures =)

on sunday was the santa claus parade.
it wasn't very weihnachtlich... =) more advertisement than christmas. andere länder andere sitten :P
but to keep a swiss tradition i baked some "grittibänz" for my roomies and me =)

yesterday we stayed the whole day at home and "studied" =) haha... we tried to... :P
in the evening we were invited to have dinner with the host family of Philipp another swiss student. they cooked some really delicious swiss food =)
i felt like home =) it was great.

today we went to a few job fairs. it's soooo hard to find a job here. i didn't expect it to be soo hard. i hope we will find something soon.

as you may know tomorrow is our big CAE exam, the written papers.

another week passed by...

yeah i'm getting to be lazy :P

the last week didn't do anything special...

but friday we were at the pub night from our school =)
was really funny =)
we were at schenanigans (oder wie au immer mer das schriebt...) and a lot of
tamwood students were there =) i met some new friends :P

on saturday we stayed at home the whole day. because once again the weather was soooooo terrible.
i went home for dinner =) my host family and me ate some really good steaks and potatos and peas =) mmmmmh....
katie and i were invited to a house party of some canadian friends from katie.
it was funny and very interesting to met all these new people.
hehe... we were soooo hungry when we came back that we cooked some scrambled eggs =) and for the first time in my live i ate them with ketchup... wasn't that bad :P

on sunday we went to different stores because katie wanted to buy a new camera =)
and i bought new dvds =) my weakness... =)
wow ja we almost forgot to celebrate 1.advent... =) but we put 4 candles on our couch table and that is our adventskranz =)

today we worked hard to finally get prepared for our exams.
tomorrow we will have the whole day speaking exams so that we will be genius on wednesday. =)

wooow time flies.... =)

another week passed by. =)

unfortunately i can't remember what we did on tuesday :P

so i tell you something about wednesday...
after another funny day at school, my suuuper friend katie and i went swimming =)
we spent an hour or nearly two in the swimming pool, hot tub, sauna and steaming room.
it was greeeeat... best place to unwind =) i am really looking forward to move in to our apt. so
that i can spend more time in our spa world :P

on thursday we cooked mexican food... =) it was yummy =)
we had to heat a sauce and cook tortillas in it... then we put some cheese one it. and for those who thought that
it is spicy ( for me =) ) we had sour cream to milden it =)
we had a lot of fun =)

on friday i got rid of my looong hair... after that we spent another time in our spa and the swimming pool =)
we were soooo tired after relaxing that we decided to watch a movie =) The simpsons =)
and i slept the first time in our apartment =) was amazing :P

the next day, katie and i walked through downtown to hand in our resumes. =)
and at 3 o'clock we went to the hairdresser to get ready for our big house warming party which took place on that evening. =)

a lot of guests came to our house warming and all of them tried to follow our motto 'black and white' =)
fortunately our whole floor is a party floor, so no one is complaining about noises :P
there was another big party on our floor =) so we could celebrate the house warming as long as we wanted to or were able to =)

then the hang over day came =) sunday was terrible =)
our apartment was a holly mess... =)
so we had to clean everything =)

after that katie and i went downtown again to hand in the resumes.
the manager at white spot was very depressing. he just took our resumes folded them and popped them into his
trouser pocket and said us he will call us if he need somebody.... jaja wers glaubt.... naja

but on monday in cactus club we had a little bit more luck.
right after handing in our application sheets and resume we had a short interview... and maybe the manager will call us on friday if we were good enough. =)

today we had our second mock speaking and unexpectedly i got a really good mark =)
so this calmed a little bit my nervousness from next wednesday (december 2.)
after school we watched the dvd 'the proposal' iiiii like =) hehe
this movie is so cuute :P especially rayn reynolds =)

sooo i have to go to bed =) tomorrow is our second mock =)

as I said, from now on I will write my blogs in English. I'm still not a genius in grammar, so forgive me the mistakes I made =)

sooooo let's go to last week...
hmm last Thursday we did not do anything special because we are very serious students and went home to have dinner and finally go to bed and have a lot of sleep =)
we needed it because on Friday was our biig biiiig biig mock exam.
on the mock exam we had all our writing test on one day, such as reading, use of english, writing and listening. that was a preparation for the real CAE exam, then it will be the same like the mock exam.
so we had to work hard the whole day, this cried for going out =)

so we met us at pili's apartment and had a drink there... (or maybe it were two drinks :) )
then we went all together to Roxy, which was once more AWESOME... =) the band played great songs like they always do. =)
and i met some really nice Canadian guys :P

on Saturday my host parents went to Las Vegas for a few days, that's why Nadia came over and had to look after me (hehe seems that I am too young to look after myself :P )
Nadia is the 33 year old daughter from my host parents.
So in the afternoon I went with her to Metrotown, which is a really big shopping mall with more than 400 stores in it. We bought some presents for the baby of her friend.
On Saturday evening I stayed at home and watched the Canucks game =) and they beat Colorado 8:2 =)

Then on Sunday I helped my girls to move in to our amazing apartment =) it's just great.
and its view is soooo breathtaking...
our rental includes also a lot of nice facilities. we live in one of the 4 spectrum towers of vancouver and these buildings offer their renters a swimming pool, a whirl pool, a sauna, a gym and different other facilities =)
after rearranging the furniture we went to dollarama to buy somethings for the kitchen and to clean our apartment =) dollarama is a shop were everything costs about 1.- =)

the whole weekend it had really heavy rains, it rained the double of the normal average of the whole november =(
it was still rainy today and so it will be the whole week... =(
it's called the pineapple express, what means that these rains are cause by a warm jetstream from the Hawaiian Islands.

Today we got our results from the mock exam from Friday.
and guess what? I PASSED =)
If it was the real CAE, I would have passed it with 64%.
It's not that good, I want to be better, but it's passed =)
And to show off a little bit more :-) I had the best percentage in the listening exam.
I had 93%, which means that I only had 2 mistakes... wuuuhhuuuu! I am soooo happy.
But I can't relax now, I have to study hard, because I don't want to have only 64% in the CAE! =)

that's why i finish here my blog and do my homework and learn a little bit. =)

am mittwuch sind mer de logischerwiise wieder emal is ceilis -> buck-a-beer ;)
damiti au fit bi am abig, bini am nomitag nu schnell es stündli hei go pfüüsele...
leider bini de zspot verwachet und bin erst am 7i (das isch spot fürd kanadier) downtown gsi. woni de bim ceilis achu bin, het scho en verdammti schlange gha vore use.
natürli hani denkt alli mini kollege sind scho dine... de bini mal d schlange füre glofe und zum glück isch fascht z vorderst halb tamwood gstande und i han mi de au nu chöne dete ine drucke =)
und für die negschte 1.5-2h sind mer da au a dem ort stoh bliebe... irgendswenn hend mer de doch nu ine dörfe und hend de fetti party gmacht das am marc sind letschte abig gsi isch.

glücklicherwiis ischs mer am samschtig abig wieder chli besser gange und ich bin ready gsi für es schwiizer fondue im the william tell restaurant =)
isch aso ganz fein gsi. bin de aber nachere schön brav hei gange und die andere schwiizer sind nu chli go fiire =)

hüt hani nu chli ufgruumt und s zimmer putzt und mini chleider gwäsche :P muess halt au mal sii =)

ja i vier wuche hani scho mini advanced prüäfig... d ziit goht schnell... drum lerni iz besser no chli. am beste mit dvd oder fernseh luege =)

huhu isch iz au scho chli länger her woni s letscht mal drii gschriebe han =)

ha aber die letschte paar täg mit mine super kollege nu mössä gnüüsse =)

de fabian und d julia sind scho hei oder wiitergreist =(

und de marc verloht mi übermorn au nu.

letscht dunschtig sind mir vier am flogging molly konzert gsi =) hammer gsi.

isch scho recht abgange =)

hehe, vorallem de sänger vu de erste vorbänd :P "min traummaa" =)

am friitig hend mer de halloween gfiiret ide schuel. isch recht luschtig gsi. und mini 3 friends hend all nu graduation gha :P

am abig sind mer de ab is roxy =) halb tamwood isch dete gsi, natürli all i ihrne kostüm :P

den isch de halloween tag chu =) de fabian und ich sind de am numitag nu ganz husch go shoppe und nachere, sind mer mit mine mädels go en wohnig aluege =)

right next to the bc stadium =) hihi und dete isch d eröffnigsfiir vu de olympiade.

d wohnig isch im 23 stock und mir hend en swimming pool, es fitness center und sauna und so gratis zur verfüegig.

mini mädels werdet i zwei wuche dete iizieh. i chan leider erst uf de 12. dezember dete iizieh, aber i freu mi scho meega! =)

am abig sind mer de chli ide granville street umetümplet. die ganz strass isch volle lüüt gsi und alli sind hammer verchleidet gsi! wie bi üs ade fasnacht =)

suntig bini de numal chli go shoppe mitm fabian und am abig sind mer as canucks spiel.

bi dem spiel hets 18000 zueschauer gha. aber alli sind still uf ihrem platz ghocket und hend popcorn gesse und bier trunke. aso bimne ice hockey spiel ide schwiiz gohts viiil meh ab :P aber trotzdem ischs dr hammer gsi =)

nachem spiel hend mer de au nu de phil troffe. de het mit mini 3 friends uf de lodge gschaffet gha =) huhu und er redt sooo schöns british english "i'm lovin it!"

nachemne drink im beavers hend mer de leider scho mössä vu de julie abschied neh, da sie am mäntig morge am 7i mit bus wiiter nach edmonton greist isch =(

und scho sind die erste träne vergosse worde :P

mäntig isch de au ganz en truurige tag worde... =( am morge bini ide schuel gsi aber nachem mittag bini gange, da de fabian am numitag abgfloge isch =( (hani sogar nur 2h gschwänzt) =)

de marc, de armando, de fabian und ich sind de zämä zum flughafe... =( alli sind meeega truurig gsi, dass de fabian eifacht abhaut. =( woner de gange gsi isch sind de scho die zweite träne vergosse worde. wer weiss vielleicht chömet die dritte wenn de marc und de phil am dunschtig au no gönd.

hüt sind mer nu ufem look out tower im harbour center gsi. hend en wunderbari ussicht uf ganz vancouver gha.

ah jo und da nu was ganz churzes über seattle:

mir sind am samschtig morge früäh mitm autöli los gfahre =) a de amerikanische grenze ischs mer de aber scho chli unheimlich worde. mir hend nu mössä de fingerabdrück mache und üs fötele loh... hehe... nachere dere prozedur sind mer de wiiter gfahre bis seattle. =)

dete sind mer de als ersts gos Safeco stadium aluege, das ischs baseball stadium vu seattle isch meeega spannend gsi. nachem dem sind mer de wiiter zu de Space Needle.

dete hend mer den en schöni ussicht über ganz seattle gha. und es het sogar öppert ghürote det obe.

ah ja da chani üch au grad nu bekannt ge, dassi VERLOBT bin =) de marc und ich werdet negscht johr au uf de space needle hürote :P hehe...

am abig sind mer de wie sichs ghört nu in usgang... =) sogar ich bin id bar inechu. und ha sogar öppis chöne trinke... alles natürli ganz (il)legal :P

am suntig sind mer de nu id premium outlet mall... die isch de hammer gsi. dete hani mer grad mini alti nüü kamera numal kauft :P hehe... und levi's jeans für 20.- =) usw.

hüt isch meeeega schön wetter gsi, da in vancouver.

de sind mer an canada platz abe und hend üs es velo gmietet :P

leider hend mer nur en stund ziit gha zum de stanely park go erchunde. will nachere

het d velo vermietig scho zue ta =(

wie mer halt so sind, die touriste macht mer öppe die mal nu en halt und es föteli =)

nach öppe 3km sind scho 40 min umegsi.

de hend mer grad nu chli müssä gas ge für die restliche 11km. :P

und will mer üs ja dete ned würkli uskennt hend, hend mer üs de au nu verfahre :P

leider leider sind mer den au 20min zspot bi de velovermietig gha und die het natürli scho zue gha.

nur pech isch gsi, das de fabian und ich üse rucksack dete ineglageret hend =)

zum glück hend mer de aber nu öppert gfunde wo üs de bunker het chöne uf tue und mir hend üsi sache wieder chöne mit neh. =)
